Pacemaker A Pacemaker is a small, lightweight, electronic device that is placed inside the body. This device is implanted within people who have a slow heartbeat. A pacemaker constantly monitors the heart for a slow rhythm. |
Defibrillator A defibrillator is a small electronic device that is placed inside the body. It uses high energy shocks to restore a normal heart rhythm. It can also function as a pacemaker to prevent atrial fibrillation. |

Heart Medication Some medications may be prescribed to slow rapid heart rates, to make the heart beat more efficiently, prevent stroke, or to restore the heart's normal rhythm.
Electrical Cardioversion An electrical cardioversion is a procedure used to help stop arrhythmias and restore a normal heart rhythm. This is an effective procedure, but it does not prevent recurring symptoms of atrial fibrillation. |
