Electrophysiology?
Cardiac Electrophysiology is a branch of medicine pertaining to the study of electrical activity in the human heart.

How the Heart Works
Before discussing the details of Cardiac Electrophysiology, it helps to understand how the heart works. Learn how the heart pumps blood into the body, or how heart rhythm depends on it's electrical system.

Abnormal Heart Rhythm
An abnormal heart rhythm, or arrhythmia, is a change in either the speed or pattern of the heartbeat. When a patient has an arrhythmia, it is possible for the heart to beat too slowly, rapidly, or irregularly.

Atrial Fibrillation
In atrial fibrillation, many different areas within the atria try to initiate a heartbeat. Multiple tiny waves, or wavelets, of electrical activity flow across the atria in a continuously changing manner.
